PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

KITKA Women’s Vocal Ensemble, Vocalist & Project Director, Oakland, CA; performing, arranging, archiving, preserving, and studying of traditional polyphonic music and ritual song from Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the Caucasus, Turkey, the Republic of Georgia, the Baltics, and so on. In addition to musical performances and specialization in vocal techniques, folklore, language of some of the aforementioned musical traditions, I am also responsible for community outreach, education development, occasional marketing assets, video, directing projects, arranging music, and instruction.  I have developed two new community choirs, taught various public vocal workshops, assisted visiting artists-in-residence master teachers/collaborators, and written arrangements/curated concerts/events for KITKA. 2013-present.

Headlands Community Folk Ensemble, Founder/Music Director, Sausalito, CA; acquisition, teaching, arranging, and directing of traditional monophonic and polyphonic music, vocal techniques, language (Irish and Swedish in particular), ensemble skills, folklore, and ethnographic background of music from Ireland/British Isles, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and the Baltics. 2017-present.

Temple of Light Georgian Community Choir, Founder/Music Director, Oakland, CA; acquisition, teaching, arranging, and directing of traditional polyphonic music, vocal techniques, ensemble skills, and ethnographic background of music from the Republic of Georgia, Lazona, and surrounding Caucasus region.  ToLGCC has performed throughout the SF Bay Area and in collaboration with Silk Road House’s Caravan of Stories series, pairing music with traditional folk tales and oral histories.  I have arranged various master classes, supras, and community events with visiting Georgian masters, including the Georgian State Ensemble Basiani, master singer Ketevan Mindorashvili of Zedashe, Svan masters Madona & Ana Chamgeliani, and Ensemble Adilei.  2016-present.

Electronic Arts - Visceral Studios, Senior Video Editor / Motion Graphics Artist, Redwood City CA; video artist, director, compositor. Creating a wide variety of media content including in-game cinematics, trailers, behind-the-scenes features, live action cinematics, and so on, 2006-2012.

Freelance Video Editor, video editing, directing, compositing, motion graphics, & design, managing editors and assistant editors. Clients include Mill Valley Film Group, Kansas City Ballet, Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble, amongst many others. 2000-2019.

Film Instructor, SUNY Buffalo, Buffalo, NY; taught the fundamentals of B&W 16mm filmmaking: story development, use of cameras and related filmmaking equipment, lighting, film processing, both analog and digital editing; prepared lesson plans and lectures, created syllabi, assessed individual needs and abilities, forming lasting relationships with students. 2002-2003.
